Privacy Policy
ComplaintCA ("we", "the platform") helps people in Canada file complaints and reach the right authority. This page explains what information we collect, why, and what rights you have over it.
What we collect
- Complaint content — the description you write, category, location, and (if provided) your name, email, and phone number.
- Email address — required even for anonymous submissions, used only to verify and let you track/manage your complaint. It is never shared with the institution when you submit anonymously.
- Uploaded evidence (photos/documents) — used only to prepare your complaint in the moment of submission. We do not currently store uploaded files after processing.
- Basic technical data — standard web logs and rate-limiting data (e.g. IP address) used to prevent abuse.
How your data is used
Your complaint is processed — including by AI systems (Anthropic Claude and Groq) — solely to classify it, draft a formal version, and route it to the correct authority. These AI providers process the text to generate a response; they are not permitted to use it to train models on our behalf.
Anonymous submissions
If you submit anonymously, your name and contact details are never sent to the institution. Your email is retained only so you — and only you — can track and manage that complaint.
Your rights
- You can track your complaint's status anytime using your reference number.
- You can request deletion of your complaint directly from the Track tab, by confirming the email used to file it.
- You can ask us questions about your data at any time — see contact below.
Account & data deletion
ComplaintCA lets you sign in with your Google Account. To delete your account and associated data:
- Delete your account: email complaintcaca@gmail.com from the address you signed in with, asking us to delete your account. We will confirm and remove it within 30 days.
- Delete specific data: individual complaints can be deleted anytime from the Track tab (see above); to remove all data tied to your account instead of deleting the whole account, say so in your email.
- What gets deleted: your sign-in profile, and any complaints/case data linked to your account. We do not retain a copy after deletion, other than what we are legally required to keep (e.g. anti-abuse logs, kept for a limited period).
Legal-track complaints & lawyers
If you mark a complaint as a legal matter, it may appear (without identifying details, unless you opt in to be contacted) in a feed visible only to signed-in partner lawyers. Full contact details are never exposed without your explicit consent.
Cookies & local storage
We use your browser's local storage to keep you signed in and remember basic preferences (like theme).
Advertising
We use Google AdSense to show ads on this site. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at www.aboutads.info. Learn more about how Google uses data from sites that use its services.
Ads never receive the contents of your complaints, your contact details or your case data.
Changes to this policy
We may update this page as the platform evolves. Meaningful changes will be reflected here with an updated date.
