rise in complaints to the CCTS, the free national watchdog for phone, internet, and TV service.

If you've felt like your provider's bill keeps getting harder to make sense of, the national numbers back you up — and there's a free process built specifically for this.

What's Actually Happening

The Commission for Complaints for Telecom-television Services (CCTS) accepted 19,157 complaints between August 2025 and January 2026 — a 61% jump year over year. 56% of all complaints were about wireless service specifically, and billing remains the single largest category of complaint, ahead of service outages or contract disputes.

Who's Getting Complained About

Rogers (incl. Shaw)27%
Telus21%
Bell17%

Together, these three account for two-thirds of all complaints the CCTS accepted in the period.

How the Free Process Actually Works

Step 1 — complain to your provider first. The CCTS requires you to give your provider a chance to resolve the issue, and to receive their final position (or wait a set period without response) before they'll accept your case.

Step 2 — file with the CCTS. It's free, and providers are contractually required to participate. Decisions can include bill credits, contract cancellation without penalty, or other remedies.

Get your complaint documented and structured before you contact your provider — it makes escalating to the CCTS faster if it comes to that.
